Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Dominio de Pingus "Amelia" Ribera del Duero ((92-94RP), 94ST, 94VN). Vinous: "Dark purple. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes candied black and blue fruits, licorice and potpourri, with smoke and mineral overtones. Lush and expansive, with hefty boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors underscored by racy acidity and a touch of floral pastille. The licorice note comes back strong on an uncommonly long finish highlighted by a sexy floral quality. (JR)" (09/2012)

The 2010 Amelia is a tiny production of just 25 cases from a parcel cultivated with what Peter Sisseck describes as -the most perfect clone- that was blended into Flor de Pingus until 2003. It is raised for eighteen months in used wood. It has a seductive bouquet with blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and creme de cassis that is beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a lactic, sensual entry with hints of dark chocolate and spice. It has very fine tannins but firm backbone on the focused, citric tinged finish that has great elegance and vivacity. This is an excellent, luscious wine whose primal opulence is difficult to resist.
