2005 Louis Jadot (Domaine Gagey) Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Boudots" (qty: 3)
A potent nose of wood spice, ripe plum and red berry fruit aromas that introduce serious but delicious medium full flavors brimming with dry extract and a sappy mouth feel on the classy, deep and gorgeously long finish. A truly lovely effort that will need every bit of a decade to see its majority and perhaps more.
Dark red-ruby. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice. Juicy, sexy and expressive, with lovely precision to the cherry and spice flavors. Not a fleshy wine but taut and strong. The vibrant finish features lingering notes of mint and licorice. (ST)
The Boudots that Domaine Jadot works with is also part of André Gagey’s holdings, and the vines are now in the thirty years of age range and offer good raw materials from which to work. The 2005 Boudots is excellent, as it offers up a pure aromatic blend of black cherries, plums, cocoa, woodsmoke, earth and a judicious framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and deep, with excellent balance, a sappy core of fruit and fine-grained tannins on the very long, tangy and pure finish. This is a very polished example of Nuits that shows no signs of the touch of overripeness that some wines in this commune demonstrate. A lovely bottle for the cellar.
