Bid on this magnum of 2017 Myriad "Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (96JD, 94RP, 93VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is another beautiful wine that does everything right. It’s largely in the same style as the Dr. Crane Elysian yet slightly softer and more plush. Nevertheless, it’s concentrated, full-bodied, has loads of power, and textbook notes of gravelly earth, dark fruits, chocolate, and spicy, almost meaty nuances. Drink it any time over the coming 20 years or more. Drink through 2040. 96+" (01/2020)

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard leaps from the glass with red and black cherry preserves, black raspberries, cassis and boysenberries plus touches of pencil lead, dried herbs and tilled soil. The palate is full-bodied, firm and grainy with loads of layers and a long, mineral-tinged finish. Drink through 2040. (LPB)
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is another alluring wine in this range from Mike and Leah Smith. A rush of inky red/purplish fruit with the floral overtones that are so typical of Crane all meld together in the glass. The 2017 has a bit firmer tannin than is often found in this wine, but that is not uncommon in a vintage in which ripening was challenged by severe heat over Labor Day. I would give the 2017 a bit of time in bottle. (AG)
