Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2015 Futo "OV/SL" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99JD, 99JS, 95VN, 93RP). James Suckling: "The brilliance and attraction to the aromas in the wine is stunning. Blackberries, currants, floras and light bitter chocolate. Some hazelnuts, too. The palate is so reserved with ultra-polished tannins that are tightly compacted. A straight line through the palate. Incredible length, balance and depth. Savory, citrus notes. The Stag's Leap and Oakville grapes were cold fermented. As the winemaker says, the sum is greater than the part. " (02/2018)

A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot that saw plenty of cofermentation, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon OV|SL comes from two properties, one in Stags Leap and one in Oakville. It’s another incredible wine from this estate that’s in the same league as the 5500 release, yet is much more serious, backward, and structured. Lead pencil shavings, graphite, black cherries, charcoal, and hints of blueberries all flow to a full-bodied, concentrated, tight 2015 that has massive amounts of fruit and extract, yet stays pure, balanced, and seamless.

A blend of fruit from Futo's Oakville and Stags Leap properties, the 2015 OV/SL is super-expressive. Soft contours and silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. Succulent and inviting, the 2015 captures all the best qualities of the year. Spiced, floral notes give the wine lovely aromatic lift and finesse. What a beautiful wine this is. (AG)

The OV/SL is a blend of fruit from Futo's two estate properties in Stags Leap and Oakville. The first vintage of this wine was 2012. The 2015 Proprietary Red OV/SL is blended of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with notions of warm plums, crushed blackberries and cassis with hints of baking spices, spearmint and red roses plus a touch of cardamom. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers tons of spicy black fruits with a plush texture and loads of peppery sparks, finishing with a refreshing lift. (LPB)
