2007 Domaine Jean Grivot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (qty: 2)
Fullish body. Good depth. Very good style. Lovely fruit. Some tannin to resolve. Lots of class and energy and a very lovely finish. Very fine. (CC)
A rich, opulent style, packed with red cherry, blackberry and spice flavors that butt up against the dense, grainy tannins. There's plenty of flesh and sweet fruit to match the structure, and the long aftertaste reveals a mineral facet. Best from 2013 through 2025.
A very subtle touch of oak influence sets off a pungently earthy mix of brooding but extremely fresh red and dark berry fruit aromas trimmed in subtle herbal, spice and game notes that precede the impressively scaled and robust full-bodied flavors that are sleekly muscled and possess plenty of pop on the intense, complex, balanced and long finish. This is a powerful yet focused effort that retains a fine sense of underlying balance and this should benefit from up to a decade in the cellar first.
Subtle but distinctive scent: stemmy, black cherry, cedar. Quite light on the palate, but charming. Elegant and dainty. 17/20 points. (RH)
