Bid on this bottle of 2004 Massolino "Margheria" Barolo (95RP, 94VN, 93WS, 91W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Barolo Margheria presents an exquisitely graceful expression of Serralunga terroir as it unfolds on the palate with layers of ripe red cherries, plums, new leather, iron, spices and menthol. It is a big, strapping Barolo, yet it also offers compelling inner sweetness, not to mention stunning overall balance. Tasted blind, it fared exceptionally well among some of the region's more famous wines. (AG)" (12/2007)

Massolino's 2004 Barolo Margheria offers considerable energy and intensity, with powerful tannins enshrouding a potent core of fruit. With time in the glass, hints of dark blue/purplish fruit, licorice, mint, violets, mocha and new leather gradually open up, but the Margheria retains a sense of classic Serralunga austerity. That said, the 2004 has developed nicely in bottle and appears to have a bright future. Readers might want to give the 2004 another few years in bottle, as it is still quite youthful and not quite as expressive as it was when it was younger. (AG) 94+
This is extremely perfumed, with flowers, crushed blackberry and sandalwood. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, caressing finish. All in finesse, but structured and rich as well. Very refined. Best after 2011. 415 cases made, 150 cases importe
Margheria is planted on a hillside west of Serralunga. This muscular '04 feels tightly coiled; with air, it shows a heady mix of fruit (dried and fresh cherries) and earth. It becomes elegant with time, the sinewy tannins supporting the juicy character of the fruit.
A little finer and more open than the 2007 version of this wine, with spicy red and dark fruit a little sweet and perfumed even. Lots of ripe and powdery tannin. Mineral finish. Very young and yet fluid. 17.5/20 points (WS)
