Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 & 1995 Bordeaux Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 1986 Carbonnieux Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (90DC) and 1-bottle of 1995 Pichon Lalande, St-Julien (95DC, 94WS). Of the 1995 Pichon Lalande, St-Julien,Decanter writes: "Full of concentrated blackberry and blackcurrant fruits, with sweet cedar and saffron spice notes as it opens, gentle liquorice root and charred oak on the finish. A higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the bottle than in most years (certainly at the time), and it has helped it to remain enticingly firm. (JA)" (01/2021)
This lot contains the following items:
1986 Carbonnieux Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (qty: 1)
1995 Lalande, St-Julien (qty: 1)
Smoky aromas with a touch of ash; Cabernet Sauvignon is taking over. Complex but subtle; needs time in the glass. Soft cloves and truffle. Probably 40% new oak, still fairly unusual in the 1980s. (JA)
The 1986 is impressive for its suave, graceful, cherry fruitiness, generous use of toasty new oak, and soft flavors with some ripe tannins in the finish. (RP)
Lean and spicy, with sharply focused cherry and plum flavors that linger appealingly on the finish, elegant and a bit smoky.
