Of the 2014 Linne Calodo "Perfectionist" Paso Robles Rhône Blend,Vinous writes: "Deep ruby. A highly complex, spice-laced bouquet evokes black and blue fruit preserves, incense and Moroccan spices, and a smoky mineral quality adds lift. Stains the palate with concentrated, sharply delineated boysenberry and cassis liqueur flavors that are energized by a spine of juicy acidity. Definitely rich, but shows outstanding energy and clarity as well. Finishes sweet, velvety and extremely long, leaving notes of candied flowers and spicecake behind. (JR)" (11/2017)

Opaque ruby. Complex, assertively perfumed bouquet of ripe black and blue fruit liqueur and floral pastilles, with mineral and cola nuances coming up slowly. Sweet, concentrated and expansive on the palate, offering intense blueberry and boysenberry flavors sharpened by juicy acidity. Distinctly suave and seamless wine with wonderful closing focus and persistence and gentle framing tannins. (JR)
Another medium to full-bodied, lightly textured, elegant effort is the 2013 Perfectionist. Made from 68% Syrah, 17% Mourvedre and 15% Grenache, it shows plenty of Mourvedre savoriness to go with ample red and black fruits, smoked meats and a touch of olive tapenade. Like all of Matt's 2013s, it's seamless and perfectly balanced, with lots to love. (JD)
Polished, plump and well-structured, with rose petal, dark raspberry and crushed rock aromas leading to layered flavors of plum, roasted anise and smoky cracked pepper. Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. (TF)

One of the reference point estates in Paso Robles is undeniably Matt Trevisan’s Linne Calodo. Matt created this estate in 1999 (with Justin Smith of Saxum), and today makes a bevy of brilliant wines all based on eclectic blends. These wines shine for their complexity and nuance as much as their textures and richness.
The 2014 Perfectionist from Trevisan is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre that saw 100% stems and aging all on concrete. It sports a light ruby color as well as complex notes of raspberries, damp earth, peppery herbs and violets. Full-bodied, silky and seamless on the palate, it has a great texture that just glides across the palate, as well as light tannin and a clean finish. It's already hard to resist but will keep for a decade.
A blend of 72% Syrah, 23% Grenache and 5% Mourvèdre, the 2014 Perfectionist has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of blueberry pie and blackberry preserves over notes of chocolate box, dried herbs, menthol and star anise. Medium to full-bodied, it offers up generous black fruit and spice layers supported by ripe, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and peppery. (LPB)
