Bid on this bottle of 2015 Domaine Jean Grivot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru ((95-97RP), 95VN, 94BH, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a detailed, precise bouquet, very pure with ripe dark cherries, kirsch, orange sorbet and subtle graphite aromas. It is one of the classiest that you will come across from this ancient vineyard this year. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin that feel a little fuller and suppler than the premier cru Vosne-Romanées. Grippy in the mouth with an effervescent finish, this is a long-term Clos de Vougeot that will age effortlessly over 20-30 years. (NM)" (12/2016)

Vibrant bright red with ruby highlights; the darkest of these 2015s to this point, by a wide margin. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, bitter chocolate and espresso complicated by suggestions of dried flowers and earth. Intensely flavored and remarkably velvety for this wine chez Grivot, with its dark cherry, mineral, coffee and mocha flavors conveying noteworthy sweetness and finesse and saturating the entire mouth. Finishes with noble, sweet tannins, subtle minerals and empyreumatic qualities and subtly building, inexorable length. Wonderfully seamless for a "rustic" terroir; is this the best Clos Vougeot that Etienne Grivot has ever made? (ST)
(50+ year old vines located in the lower section of the Clos). Moderate wood sets off the ripe and fresh if restrained aromas of soft earth, mocha and spicy dark currant, humus and forest floor scented-nose. There is exceptionally good volume and richness to the palate coating and velvet-textured big-bodied flavors that display outstanding power, punch and intensity on the rustic and ever-so-slightly warm finish. This is built-to-age and is going to need plenty of it. 2030+
Earthy notes blow off, revealing pure cherry, black currant and spice flavors, married to a silky texture. Shows beautiful depth, plus a firm structure, but the overall impression is one of finesse. Fine length. (BS)
Timid nose at this stage but it's pretty promising with fine tannins and firm ripe fruit. Long-term wine but it should deliver. 18/20 points (JR)
