Black and blue fruit preserves, olive and woodsmoke on the deeply perfumed nose. Stains the palate with blackberry, cherry liqueur and vanilla flavors that are enlivened by juicy acidity and a jolt of smoky minerals. The mineral quality adds lift and bite to the broad, dark-fruit-dominated finish, which clings with superb energy, smooth, slow-building tannins and impressive persistence. (JR)" (11/2017)

The Bordeaux blend of the estate is the 2014 Mother of Exiles and it checks in as 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Petit Verdot and 2% Petit Verdot Merlot. It offers terrific notes of crème de cassis, spiced plums, crushed violets and graphite in a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, tight and focused style. Like all these latest 2014s, it bucks the vintage profile and is going to benefit from cellaring. 94+
