The brilliant 2000 Zinfandel Moore (Earthquake) Vineyard (400 cases) is a blockbuster. It exhibits surprising elegance for a Zinfandel from this site. A dense opaque ruby/purple color is followed by restrained aromas of blackberries, cassis liqueur, licorice, pepper, and spring flowers. The wine is dense and full-bodied as well as structured and well-delineated. This impressive effort easily conceals its 15.7% alcohol. (RP)
Medium-deep red-ruby. Brooding aromas of black fruits and licorice; in need of a racking. Dense, sweet and concentrated; more pliant than the Pringle zin but not nearly as ripe as the '99 example. Finishes with firm but fine tannins. (ST)
