K&L Notes

92 points Robert Parker: "There is a tiny (210 cases) production of the dark plum/purple-colored 1998 Pinot Noir Octagon Vineyard. It exhibits a floral/rose petal note to its sweet black cherry, dried herb, earthy, complex aromatics. Medium to full-bodied, long, and sumptuous, it is a broad, expansively-flavored Pinot Noir to drink over the next 5-6 years." (12/2000) 91 points Stephen Tanzer: "Good full deep red. Raspberry, cherry, leather and a whiff of exotic fruits on the nose. Sappy, intense flavors of crystallized cherry and raspberry; a real fruit bomb, with solid acidity and chewy but ripe tannins giving it excellent grip. Dense and strong. "I used to tell people to drink our pinots within five or six years, but as the vines mature, the wines are becoming longer-lived," says Dehlinger." (Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun '01) According to the Wine Spectator: "Impressive with its silky texture, giving the earthy plum, cola and black cherry flavors a smooth ride. Finishes with crisp acidity and firm tannins. Drink now through 2005. 210 cases made." (06/01)
