Epitomizes the New World style of a superripe, soft, plush wine, bursting with fruity-berry flavors, and generously oaked. Hard to imagine a wine flattering the palate more, with its graceful tannins and heaps of blackcurrant, sweet roasted pepper, olive and white chocolate flavors. Instantly appealing, although it may be a difficult match for food.
Bright ruby-red. Ripe aromas of currant, raspberry, violet, dark chocolate and tobacco leaf. Sweet and supple, with nicely delineated flavors of bitter cherry, currant and mint, with a finishing note of bitter chocolate. Finishes firmly tannic, with mouthwatering acidity. Can't match the estate's Hillside Select cuvee for sheer personality, but a very good effort for the vintage.
Well-balanced, with a supple mix of floral, currant, anise, leather and spicy blackberry fruit that loses a bit of its intensity and richness on the finish.
