Since Siduri's inaugural Hirsch vineyard Pinot in 1995, the winery has made a name for itself creating spectacular, haunting Pinot that speaks of the unique terroir of this oceanside locale. While this is a seriously cool-climate vineyard, things really cooked in 2001, and Siduri picked grapes by sections, three separate times to ensure that all the fruit came in with just the right degree of ripeness. The last of the pickings took place on October 1! Their tenaciousness means that you get an incredibly pure Pinot Noir with marked floral aromas and hints of forest floor and cherries. The palate is velvet smooth with ripe red cherries, spice and well-integrated tannins. Only 437 cases made.
