Very strong nose on the cusp of minerals and cleaning fluid! Lots of stone-licking quality. Graphite. Still lots of tannin. Not sweet, not alcoholic. Very distinctive! Love or loathe wine. 17/20 points. (JR)
Telltale aromas of violets, blackberries, blueberries, and crushed stones are apparent in this medium to full-bodied, slightly lean 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain. Tasty and expressive. (RP)
Bright, saturated ruby. Aromas of cassis, leather and tobacco. As juicy as the Napa bottling but showing stronger fruit notes of cassis and bitter cherry, even a sweet/sour note of pomegranate. Finishes with good length. (ST)
Marked by ripe plum and cherry fruit with a cedary oak edge that turns to tobacco and herbs. Well-balanced, with firm tannins and a hint of wild berry and chocolate on the finish. (JL)
