Weaves together a complex array of coffee, currant, anise, sage and dried berry, firming up on the finish, where the flavors run deep and polished. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Supple and refined, with velvety tannins and good ripe fruit. The aroma is classic black currants, with a strong dose of green olives, but there are deep flavors of black cherries and blackberries, and the tannins are fairly astringent.
A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot, the dark ruby/purple-colored 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Moon Mountain Reserve exhibits attractive cassis, spicy oak, cedar, and cigar box-like aromas. With medium body, moderate tannin, and excellent concentration, it is accessible enough to be drunk now, but promises to be even better with 3-4 years of cellaring. It should keep for 12-15 years.
