Good deep red. Spicy aromas of red cherry, raspberry, rose petal and mint; shows more precision and pinot lift than Dehlinger's '99 Goldridge and Estate pinots. In a drier style, with delicate red fruit flavors, firm acidity and very good balance. Cleanly made, persistent pinot, with dusty, fine tannins. From 10-year-old vines planted to the Pommard clone; as the stems here are never green at the time of harvest, Dehlinger vinifies with a high percentage of whole berries.
The medium-bodied 1999 Pinot Noir High Plains (14.8% alcohol) reveals sweet and sour cherry fruit, fine elegance, and subtle wood...This French-styled Pinot will drink well for 5-6 years.
Combines ripe, rich black cherry, plum and raspberry flavors with a sense of elegance, offering depth, nuance and finesse. Dry tannins and a slight metallic edge suggest drinking soon. Drink now through 2005. 265 cases made. (Web 2002)
