The 2002 Pinot Noir Martinelli Vineyard Reserve’s dark ruby/purple color is followed by a big, sweet perfume of ripe pomegranates intermixed with cherries, plums, raspberries, smoke, underbrush, and minerals. With good acidity, a big, powerful palate, and a long finish with no hard edges... (RP)
Good ruby-red. Wild raspberry, strawberry, spices and nutty oak on the nose. Intensely flavored and stuffed with fruit. Firm acids accentuate the impression of dryness. Firm, pure pinot with good spine. Vintage 2003 was the last crop for these vines, as houses are now being built on this site. (ST)
Smooth, rich and vibrant, with lively plum and blackberry fruit that's supple and concentrated, finishing with a burst of ripe fruit on the finish. Excellent balance--the tannins and acidity give it a solid backbone and the fruit flavors hang with you. (JL)
