On the nose, the 2001 Stags' Leap Cab offers black fruit notes with aromas of cola, clove, coffee and black pepper. Layers of flavors of blackberry, black cherry, anise, black tea and dark chocolate are revealed on the palate. Full bodied with an integrated tannin structure, this elegant red offers hints of mineral which enhances the complex fruit through a long, warm finish. There is lots of briar-berry character, a signature of this very special vineyard and its terroir.
