Good medium ruby. Blackberry, espresso and spicy oak on the nose. Pliant, fairly rich flavors of black fruits and licorice. Finishes with lush tannins, a note of melting Valrhona chocolate and good length. (ST)
The 2000 La Lagune was the first vintage to use a sorting table. It has a clean and expressive bouquet with redcurrant jam and raspberry preserved mixed with gravel and tobacco scents, nicely defined if not overly complex. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, tightly wound black fruit tinged with tar and sea salt. (NM)
Pretty berry, chocolate and vanilla character, with medium body, fine tannins and a silky finish, a very good wine. (JS)
