Tasting Notes

93(+?) points Stephen Tanzer: "($50) Saturated ruby-red. Dark aromas of blackberry, cassis and licorice. Classy and penetrating, with tangy flavors of red- and blackcurrant. At once dense and bright; solidly structured yet already quite sweet and showy. I've used the term "dead fruit" to describe wines made from overripe, desiccated grapes; this is the opposite of dead fruit. Finishes very long and sappy, with firm but suave tannins. Should reward a decade of additional bottle aging." (International Wine Cellar Jan/Feb 05) According to the Wine Spectator: "Dark, firm, intense and rustic, with a chewy tannin edge. The core black cherry, currant and wild berry flavors are fresh and compact, exhibiting depth and complexity and finishing with a tight core of fruit and tannin and a long, persistent finish that shows a slightly, chalky edge. Best from 2006 through 2012. 899 cases made." (10/04)
