Increasing vine maturity coupled with outstanding effort on vinemaking skills enabled Bernardus to make a wine of concentration with the classic flavor profile typical to that of the Marinus vineyard. 75% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot, 3% petit verdot, 2% cabernet franc aged 16 months in French oak barrels (50% new and 50% 1-year-old) along with three months in large oak upright tanks prior to being bottled in July of 2001.
