Medium yellow-gold. Flamboyantly ripe, complex nose combines pineapple, apricot, toffee, clove and vanilla. Hugely sweet and rich, with deep, powerful flavors of honey, marzipan and toffee. A major mouthful of wine, with great lingering sweetness. Today, this makes the Rieussec seem almost polite by comparison. (ST)
The Suduiraut 2001 has an attractive bouquet of honeycomb, passion fruit and a touch of petrol that are well defined, if not as complex as more recent vintages such as the 2009. The palate is well balanced with fine citrus lemon and apricot notes. (NM)
This is just starting to open up, with a dried lemon, meringue, pineapple, and honey. Full and very sweet with a spicy character. Long and tangy, yummy. No need to wait -- enjoy.
Stunning wine. Wonderful balance. Barley sugar sweetness but just the right amount of freshness. A bottle in great shape served by Brian Croser who reported that the late Len Evans in his Bordeaux phase (backed by his well-heeled friend Foxy) tried to buy Ch Suduiraut - and Ch Lascombes! 19/20 points
