  The blue/black/purple-colored 1999 Petite-Syrah Estate (125 cases, 14.6% alcohol) exhibits thick, concentrated, pure flavors of licorice, minerals, blackberries, and cassis. Monstrous on the palate, this 1999 requires a decade of cellaring. (RP)

  Opaque black ruby. Sauvage aromas of roasted meat, leather, blackberry, minerals and lead pencil. Bright and dense but not yet complex. Finishes persistent but a bit youthfully aggressive. Hard to assess today but shows very good vinosity and noteworthy aromatic complexity. (ST)
