Sourced from Windsor Gardens, a thirty-year-old vineyard that is one of the few remaining "heritage" Pinot Noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley. Winemaker Merry Edwards used traditional Burgundian techniques, including Methode a l'Ancienne, where grapes are cold-soaked prior to fermentation in small, open-topped tanks and gently punched down by hand. From Barbara Ensrud of Bewinewise.com: "Merry Edwards Pinots are some of the finest from California, imbued with rich, dark fruit, superb structure and intriguing complexity. Though it is tempting to drink her wines at release when they are wrapped in youthful fat fruit, try to give them 4 to 8 years to develop impressive complexity and expressive bouquet."
