The immediate impression is of extreme youth and mandatory cellaring. Bluntly, this is not an easy wine to like now. It has a peppery edge, and the blackberry fruit is buried under tons of dark, brooding tannins. Best to age...but it should be worth the wait. *Cellar Selection*
With a wealth of rich, smoky, slightly herbal and somewhat coffee-like themes lending singular identity to both its complex aromas and layered flavors, this supple, medium-bodied effort is keyed more on sweet ripe cherries than classic cassis. It is easy on the palate and firmed by fine-grained tannins at the finish and suggests that optimal drinking should arrive in three to five years. *One Star*
One of the jewels in the Stag's crown, this is perfumed and delicious. Cherry, liquorice and sweet briar. Spicy, grippy tannins. Drink 2011-26. (AL)
