The original 'green' Champagne producer, organic since 1970 and biodynamic since 1989. I picked the Brut Sonate 2011 to include in my book, which is a little more expensive, but this blanc de noirs is also brilliant, rich and creamy but dancing with a salty minerality. (100% Pinot Noir; 9 g/l dosage; disgorged on November 7, 2013): Bright yellow. Mineral-accented redcurrant and blood orange scents are complicated by smoky minerals and dried rose. Chewy and tightly focused, offering bitter citrus pith and red berry flavors and a touch of toasted brioche. Shows very good clarity and lift on the taut, energetic finish, leaving smoky mineral and floral notes behind. (JR)

Exclusive from Champagne Fleury based on the original label design for the 1929 vintage. Fleury was the first producer in Champagne to become biodynamic (certified in 1992). Based on the 2013 vintage. Intense and proper with almost painful acidity. Honey and wild flowers. Massively interesting even if not tight-knit. 16.5/20
The NV Blanc de Noirs Brut is based on the 2010 harvest and includes 25% of reserve wines. It was disgorged in October 2015 with seven grams of dosage. The wine opens very pure and fresh on the nose, with ripe pear aromas and a lovey purity of fruit. Intense and fruity on the palate, light and finesse-full, this wine has a very nice grip. It is very delicate and pure, with great finesse, lightness and grip. This Champagne is promising. (SR)
