The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts terrific ripeness, a dense ruby/purple color, and loads of cassis intermixed with asphalt, pain grille, and licorice. It is medium to full-bodied, pure, rich, and authoritative. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
Emphatic ripeness is a key player here, and it is hard to ignore the wine's chocolaty bias and its tail of finishing heat, but the deep and wonderfully well-concentrated fruit that appears at literally every turn makes its riper aspects wholly forgiveable. Big and outgoing from the very start, this showy, yet layered young Cabernet is brimming with currants and creamy oak, and while its immediate richness invites near-term drinking, there is tannin enough to signal plenty of potential for further complexity after a half-dozen years have passed.
A rich, intense style, with layers of red currant, plum, bay leaf and mint, giving it a decidedly herbal quality. Yet it's balanced, supported by firm tannins and acidity, with a complex aftertaste.
