A standout wine thanks to lush red apple and cinnamon, coffee, tobacco, cherry cola, spice and peach cobbler-like aromas. Tasty, long finish with firm tannins and a flavorful, fruity tail in an ageworthy wine.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Collosorbo’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino is a gorgeous effort, with an expressive, perfumed nose, and layers of super-ripe red fruit, licorice and mineral nuances that open on the palate with great length and freshness, framed by fine, silky tannins that round out the finish. This sexy, irresistibly appealing Brunello should drink well to age 15. (AG)
Fresh and focused with floral and berry character. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Best after 2006.
Collosorbo is part of the "Sesta Group" and this wonderful zone seems to produce sensationally good wine very consistently. This wine's perfume is of sweet, dark cherry, ripe plum, and chocolate with almost a Zin like intensity. However in the mouth the wine really has great balance the ripe and fleshy texture wraps itself around and interior core of structure that gives the wine its tremendous length. Soft and smooth upon entry the wine is lively and fresh for the ripeness inherent in the fruit. Underneath this façade of sweet fruit is a wine with real power, density while still being luscious in the mouth. The finish is full of zippy fruit, clean and long. This wine will drink well now with some decanting and over the next decade plus. (Greg St.Clair K&L Italian Wine Buyer)
