Along with Clone 4, this is a new wine for Beaulieu Vineyards (the 2002 is the second edition), and it represents a specific and undoubtedly superior selection of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. The grapes were handpicked, de-stemmed and crushed into small open-top stainless steel fermenters, with a long and slow fermention, after which the wine was settled in tank for a week and racked into new French oak, picking up vanilla and toast components evident in the nose of the tremendously rich and full-bodied wine. Enjoy this herb-influenced, chewy red when young, or wait for up to ten years, for a red worthy of its cellar time.
