Rated "Extraordinary" by the Underground Wine Letter, which states: "This is a gorgeous Champagne with richness, depth and complexity." Bonville's stunningly rich, creamy Blanc de Blancs has all the minerality and zing one would expect from an all-Chardonnay Champagne. The Bonvilles were grape growers in the Côte de Blancs until after World War II, when they began making Champagne themselves with fruit from the grand cru villages of Avize and Oger. The domaine, a true family-run enterprise, is now in its third generation. It's run by Olivier Bonville, who grew up in the business working side-by-side with his parents, Ingrid and Gilles. Today the estate covers 20 hectares (45 acres) in the grand cru villages of Cramant, Avize, and Oger. These exclusive vineyards guarantee the highest quality fruit. The vines are cultivated with respect for the environment, and the vinification is done with the greatest possible care, with long aging before bottling. We have been importing Champagne Franck Bonville directly for many years now and have thus earned an allocation of this small-production cuvée to share with you. The current batch is all sourced from old, mid-slope vines in Oger and Cramant. The vine age averages over 50, with no vines under 40 years in the blend.

    K&L has a few Champagne producers that impress me every time I taste something new from them. Franck Bonville is assuredly amongst this group, with wine after wine being a new reminder that great things come in 750ml packages. The nose is toasty and nutty with a fruit-driven core. The palate is rich and creamy to the point of opulence. This is an excellent Blanc de Blancs Champagne that is very impressive for the price.

    Wow, this is an absolutely beautiful Champagne! Fresh cut flowers fall delicately over every kind of apple in the opening of this nose. Underneath, the base has grassiness, creaminess, and a subtle hint of smoke. The palate has light toast notes and a wonderful nuttiness. It's not all about heft though with lemon zest and grapefruit juice coming through as well possessing a puckery acidity.

    This is some incredible quality for not much money. Made from old vines all sourced from the chalky Grand Cru soils of Avize, then aged for about 5 years on the lees, it is replete with chalky minerality, concentrated green apple and meyer lemon fruit, and a beautiful subtle toastiness. With a little time to open up, beautiful spices start to emerge to complete the symphony of flavor.

    Rich, creamy and complex mineral flavors are packed into this bottle from Franck Bonville's "Prestige" collection. Made from vines over 50 years in age, this current batch is all sourced from old, mid-slope vines in Oger and Cramant. Think lemon meringue pie, golden honey and balanced acid when you pop open this blanc de blanc. The grapes are based primarily from the 2014 vintage with some 2013 vintage present. Wonderful bottle for any special occasion. Serve chilled and enjoy!

    Franck Bonville champagnes are just incredible. They are delicately powerful, like opposite attractions. It's the blending balance that makes them work! On the nose it's rich aromas of pears and green to revisit the pears now toasty with some vanilla. This is from the lees, Bonville knows his lees!!!!!!

    Raspberry, coconut, and sweet lemon notes all pop out on the nose of this exceptional wine that is about as good as Champagne gets, in my opinion. The finish is long, really long, and shows a ton of movement minutes after you've finished drinking. A friendly wine that still shows a lot of precision. This is a great bottle of wine to pour for a varied group as it has a little something for almost anybody.

    I feel guilty for consuming too much of our allocation of this wine, but never when I am drinking it! I have had many great bottles of this, and one of the most memorable was not from the K&L allocation, but rather off the wine list at Bistro 7 in Epernay. I was dining alone, and it felt extra special and decadent to order a bottle just for me off of their fairly priced list. It went spectacularly with the rabbit terrine and even better with the seared turbot. The Bonville Prestige has ripe, round white fruit balanced perfectly by old vine top terroir, Avize chalk. This wine has texture to beat most of over $100 bottles of Champagne on our shelves!

    When I am feeling like a fancy bottle of Champagne, this is what I reach for. The Prestige lives fully up to the name, rich and opulent, completely gorgeous. A sultry nose of toasted hazelnut and brioche waft up from the nose, followed by a palate filled with richness. Macaroon, butter-cream frosting, layers of baked goods, and a brilliant acidity flesh out a great bottle.

    This stunning blanc de blancs has a super, super clean and chalky nose. You can practically smell the fossils in the soil! Meyer lemon notes peek through with just a hint of nectarine and lemon curd. On the palate, it fleshes out beautifully, with baked apples (initially) that finish with Granny Smith apples. This Champagne is unusual in that it has both a tart and full character. It has, of course, Franck Bonville's wonderful quality and balance.

    I had this champagne on my birthday and it was the perfect bubbly for the occassion! Bright and fresh with tons of blanc de blanc fruit, it is also incredibly rich and creamy due to its extended lees contact. It was the ideal champagne to toast the beginning of the festivities and continued its perfection as it paired beautifully with all the food for the evening.

    This was the first champagne I tasted when I started working at K&L and it is still my favorite, when talking bang for your buck. This blanc de blanc will grab anyone's attention with its grace and its beauty. So elegant a palate for so little a price.
