A little riper than most 2005 wines we have tasted from the Santa Lucia Highlands, this one starts with concentrated blackcherry aromas tinged with a bit of a dried twig note and follows on the palate with a rounded, glyceriny entry and palate-coating ripe fruit flavors and a full, fleshy feel across the palate and into the finish.
Aromas of ripe pomegranate and wild berry are delicate and detailed on the palate. Turns austere, yet holds onto the fruit, accented by a mineral aftertaste. (JL)
Ripe blackcurrant, roasted herb, and spice characteristics are present in this dark ruby-colored Pinot. Although somewhat monolithic, it is a well-made, very good 2005 … (RP)
Light red. Spicy aromas of raspberry, cherry, licorice and cured meat. Deep and chewy in texture, with vibrant cherry and dark berry flavors, an exotic note of candied licorice, and fine-grained tannins. Finishes with chewy flavors of dried cherry and spicecake and very good length. (ST)
