92 points Robert Parker: "This is one of the finest wines I have ever tasted from the tiny island off the coast of Adelaide. Yields for this effort were a lowly one ton of fruit per acre. The vineyards are young (5 years), but the spectacular quality of this first release is sure to make consumers take notice of this island operation. Fortunately, there are 1500 cases of this wine." (02/2000) The nose on this Kangaroo Island beauty offers lifted nose with black currants, cedar, spice and minerals. Medium to full-bodied, with concentrated flavors, which are maturing beautifully. Already complex and lingering with fine and persistent tannins which give wonderful structure and longevity. Aged for 16 months in 70% French oak, nearly all of it new barriques, with the balance American, for 16 months.
