A showy young wine that's smooth, rich and concentrated. Delivers firm, intense yet supple layers of currant, cedar, toasty, cedary oak and tannins that firm up, offering hints of mineral, sage and dusty berry. (JL)
The well-crafted bottling comes up the classier of the winery's two Cabernet bottlings in 2005 and features loads of optimally ripened, blackcurrant fruit set against nicely proportioned oak and a smattering of dusty earth spice. It is fairly full-bodied, very supple in feel and sports a fine spine of integral tannins, and, if built in way that ensures a decade of guaranteed growth, it is nonetheless trim and tailored and never tougher than a young Cabernet should be. *Two Stars*
Very dark crimson. Ripe and slightly dank on the nose – enormous sweetness. Very rich and round. Full on but not very subtle with a hint of raw acidity under all that ripeness. 16/20 points. (JR)
