Displaying a whopping 15.6% natural alcohol, this DRC look-alike boasts copious notes of blueberry, raspberry and kirsch liqueur intermixed with notions of lavender and underbrush. Elegant, full-bodied, opulent and voluptuously-textured, with velvety tannins, this 2004 appears to have barely budged since I first tasted it in 2006. The color is a dense plum/ruby, and despite the use of 100% stems, there is not a trace of herbaceousness or vegetal character. This gorgeous 2004 Pinot Noir must be tasted to be believed. It should continue to age well for 8-10 years or longer. (RP)
