K&L Notes

An amazing Barolo from one of the biggest names in Italian wine. Named for the Gromis family, who owned the prized vineyard in the commune of La Morra, where much of the fruit for this wine comes from, throughout the 19th century. Now owned by the Gaja family, the Dagromis Barolo combines Gromis fruit with that from another outstanding Gaja-owned vineyard in Serralunga. Both vineyards have primarily calcareous clay and marl soils and sit between 985 and 1,475 feet above sea level. Intensely rich and full, this Barolo is a deep red, with ripe berry and floral aromas along with nebbiolo's characteristic spice, a touch of licorice and herbs. The wine is solid on the palate, with a rich softness. Aged for 12 months in barrique and another 12 in large oak casks, this is a particularly Gaja-styled Barolo that lovers of the Italian powerhouse should not pass up!
