Good ruby-red color. Intriguing aromas of black cherry, underbrush, mushroom and roast coffee. Dense and strong in the mouth, with a distinct note of smoky torrefaction. Not especially primary but has real dimension. The interesting flavors reminded me of a wine from Morey-Saint-Denis. (ST)
Quite ripe but a bit chewy on the palate. Pretty cherry, strawberry, tea, spice and herb flavors are at the core. Tannins are slightly robust, but still ripe. The wine finishes long, clean and elegant.
Tight, with an herbal edge to the dusty berry, plum and black cherry flavor. Finishes with finely integrated tannins, excellent balance and a touch of anise. (JL)
The earthy, foresty, cool climate tasting 2000 Pinot Noir Vista Verde (300 cases) offers hints of plum and cherry fruit, but overall this is a mushroom lover's Pinot (damp, mossy, forest floor, and underbrush notes). (RP)
