Displaying a dark ruby/purple color, the 2003 Pinot Noir Weir Vineyard exhibits gamy, meaty, funky herb and fresh cow dung-like notes along with loads of complexity, medium to full body, and a ripe, rich, finish. The acidity is nicely concealed by the wine’s power and volume. This Burgundian-styled Pinot should drink well for 5-7 years.
Flaunting the richness and considerable fruit that seem the hallmarks of Williams Selyem's better efforts, this particular bottling shows both good depth and a nice sense of layering despite its slight bias to ripeness. It may let a bit of heat show through at the finish, but it is an expressive, mouth-filling Pinot Noir whose solid structure and balance ensure that it will grow for a few years and will keep very comfortably for a half-dozen or more.
A mix of supple black cherry and blackberry fruit supported by firm tannins and lively acidity, it offers excellent structure and length, ending with a pleasant minerally, gravelly aftertaste.
Good deep red. Aromas of berries, spices, minerals and dried rose. Highly concentrated flavors of raspberry, gunflint and spices. Quite fruit-driven for this bottling, almost exotic in character. Big, sweet and rich. Finishes with building, ripe tannins.
