K&L Notes

After 30 years at Hanzell, winemaker Bob Sessions stepped into the background, allowing new winemaker Michael Terrien to take the reins on the 2005 vintage (current winemaker is Michael McNeill). But Terrien chose to follow Sessions' lead, making a Sonoma Valley Chardonnay in the same vibrant style the winery has become known for. An excellent first effort, this wine is bright, with grapefruit zest up front on the nose and subtler aromas of yeast and wet flour. White flowers, pear and apple scents emerge as the wine opens. Crisp and clean on the palate, this wine is light and refreshing and will pair well with lighter fare.
