Tasting Notes

Allen Meadows writes: "A very pure and ripe nose of red pinot fruit leads to delicious and precise middle weight flavors that possess good body and persistence. This is a stylish effort with real quality and the bones to improve for a few years as well." (Burghound, 01/07)

I love the iron-infused minerality of a great Nuits-Saint-Georges, but usually it takes a decade of waiting for it to come in a drinkable package. This Faiveley Bourgogne is a shortcut. Cinnamon and I found it quite delicious after just half an hour in the decanter. We had the wine with some sautéed chicken, simply floured and finished with a squeeze of Meyer lemon, some good sourdough bread and some rainbow chard. It did very nicely, but I underestimated the wine: next time I will serve it with duck or lamb. This is Pinot in the opposite style of the hot, sweet, melted jello New World style. I think it has plenty of fruit for a Burgundy lover, as long as the glass is in one hand and the fork is in the other
    Drink from 2009 to 2015
