Napa's Smith-Madrone has done it! They've made a butt-kickin' cabernet that's big on the palate without harsh tannins. The 2003 vintage comes from 32-year old dry-farmed vines from the Spring Mountain District and is aged for 22 months in new American oak barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered. The result? A wine with an intriguing nose of briar fruits and black cherries combined with notes of crushed violets, lavender and dark chocolate. On the palate the wine is full and smooth with a velvety mouthfeel and big fruit. Enjoy with grilled steak with sautéed mushrooms or roasted leg of lamb.
