A good bit of deep and defined blackcurrant fruit is joined in the nose by sweetening notes of crème caramel and vanilla as well as varietally authentic elements of briar and loam, and the wine's well-ripened flavors run true to promise. While quite rich and tasty to start, this tannic youngster gets a bit raw and astringent near the end, and, its frontal appeals notwith-standing, it really needs to be cellared away for anywhere from five to ten years. *One Star*
Ripe nose of dried plum and cassis, plus cedar and oak spice. Dense, juicy black fruit and assertive tannins. There’s a charred-wood taste on the short, tight finish. 16/20 points. (LM)
Dark, firm and concentrated, with rich, earthy black cherry, black olive, sage, mint and dusty oak. Turns chewy and tannic on the finish. May always maintain its tannic profile. (JL)
