Quite solid with some oak in evidence. Nicely done and very positive. Racy, crackling fruit. Bone dry. Real racehorse of a wine. Long, complex. 17/20 points. (JR)
A completely different and much more expressive nose of red and black pinot fruit nuanced with lovely notes of violet, anise and clove that continue onto the round, supple and sweet flavors that possess good volume underpinned by sophisticated tannins and a precise and dusty finish. This is a classic Vosne with real personality and certainly worth a close look. *Outstanding*
The 2005 Hudelot Suchots was raised in only twenty-five percent new oak (down from a third in Monsieur Navrocki’s day, if memory serves), and the wine has turned out beautifully. The bouquet is a blend of black raspberries, espresso, woodsmoke, herbs, earth and just a touch of spicy wood. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, long and ripely tannic, with a lovely core of fruit, great acids, and a very long, pure and soil-driven finish. Excellent juice. (Drink between 2012-2035)
Vibrant red-ruby color. Highly perfumed aromas of berries, cherry, spices and flowers. Dense and tangy, with a wonderful light touch and uncommon detail to the sappy red cherry and floral flavors. Racy acids frame the flavors and give the very long finish a captivating lingering perfume. Wonderfully delicate, stylish wine. (ST)
