This is the top cuvee from Alliet and a wine of singular expression; it may well be the top wine of the vintage. The Coteau de Noiré is a south facing slope on limestone soils with vines replanted by Alliet in 1996; it is aged in new oak, and possesses enormous amounts of concentration and depth. This cuvee always shows a dark berry aromatic, mixed with sweet tobacco leaf and soil. It is fresh, exquisitely balanced and will improve for 15 or more years.
