92 points from Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright, full red. Aromas of red cherry, raspberry, smoked meat and earth, along with an exotic suggestion of orange rind. Supple, lush and deep, with impressive fat and pliancy to its red fruit flavors. Finishes long and sweet, with red fruit, floral and spice notes that reminded me of Chambolle-Musigny." (May/June '08) The fruit for Sean Capiaux's Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from Gary Franscioni and Gary Pisoni's famed Santa Lucia Highlands vineyard. The wine's deep ruby red color mimics its core of red fruit, spiked with notes of cinnamon, caraway and black pepper. Soft and more feminine than in previous vintages, the sweet berry fruit on the palate are followed by vanillin and mouthcoating tannins. Full, long and lush, this is a big and beautiful pinot drinking well now, but definitely worthy of laying down for a few years, too.
