The dense ruby/purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Paradise Hills Estate reveals notes of cocoa, coffee, chocolate and creme de cassis. It cuts a bigger swath across the palate than the Merlot, but with no hard edges. Deeply textured and multidimensional with loads of fruit as well as a flawless integration of acidity, alcohol, tannin and wood, this medium to full-bodied, classic Blankiet should continue to drink well for another 15-20 years. This boutique estate situated on the hillsides behind Dominus has employed some of the best wine minds in Napa. The 2004s spent 18 months in 100% new Taransaud barrels, and were bottled without fining or filtration. (RP)
Bright, deep red with ruby tones. Very sexy aromas of cassis, black plum, licorice and toffee, with a ripe citrus note adding another dimension. Densely packed, seamless and energetic, showing outstanding intensity and power to its dark fruit flavors. The suggestion of lemon oil carries through onto the palate. Boasts terrific balance and finishes with huge but fully integrated tannins. (ST)
Deep ruby. Vibrant, pure aromas of black raspberry and violet. Sweet, primary and sophisticated, with a lovely lightness of touch for a 2004. Very fresh cabernet with a building finish featuring suave, rich tannins and outstanding length. From fruit picked under more moderate conditions than the merlot, which came in during the heat spike at the beginning of September. (ST) 94+
