Most tasters loved the huge complexities of this ripe, dense young wine. They praised its massive cherry and cocoa flavors that flirt with overripeness, and the smooth, silky texture... Likely to soften and knit together with a few hours of decanting, or aging through 2007.
A rich, supple, graceful, harmonious style, with ripe, plum, black cherry and raspberry fruit that's well-centered, with a hint of creamy, nutmeg-shaded oak. Young and engaging, it finishes where it began, with succulent fruit flavors and just the right touch of tannins. (JL)
The 2002 Pinot Noir Rochioli River Block Vineyard’s dark ruby color is followed by a sumptuous bouquet of flowers, plums, Allspice, sweet kirsch, and minerals, medium to full body, a touch of austerity, but an elegant, concentrated personality. It should drink well for a decade. (RP)
