Tasting Notes

94 points from Robert Parker: "The other wines are worth checking out as they are sensational efforts, but their production is so tiny, few readers will ever see them.. Wines from this vineyard can be incredibly impressive in their youth, but after 3-5 years, they tend to drop their fruit at an accelerated rate, so I would recommend drinking this 2006 during its exuberant youth. I am only providing tasting notes for the Arnot-Roberts cuvees for which there are more than 100 cases, which includes the Syrah Hudson Vineyard (220 cases) and Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard (150 cases)." (Dec. 2008) Former Pax assistant winemaker Duncan Arnot Meyers and cooper Nathan Roberts produce beautiful, terroir-driven, varietally pure small production wines. They launched in 2003 and have been slowly, steadily gaining cult status. The duo recently relocated their winemaking facility to Forestville. The west side of the Mayacamas Mountain range is home to Clajeaux Vineyard. It is a wonderful cool climate with rocky soils. This is an elegant wine from Sonoma with great structure. It has bright red currant and black fruit flavors with cocoa powder in the finish. This wine is more reminiscent of the Ridge Monte Bello's of Santa Cruz Mountains. It should age well for several years.
