Excellent structure, range of flavors, depth and complexity, with taut tannins wrapped snugly around a core of spicy currant, cherry pie and blackberry flavors. Long, smooth aftertaste.
The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Patzimaro Vineyard boasts an expressive nose of blackberry and black currant jam intermixed with vanilla and licorice scents. Full-bodied, sweet, and expansive as well as delineated and impressively-textured, this is a strong effort for the vintage. (RP)
Black currants and cherries on the nose are complemented by sooty char. Black fruit, ash and toast flavors highlight sweet blueberry and anise notes. Fine, dusty tannins add structure.
Saturated medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, cassis, espresso, bitter chocolate and spicy, smoky oak. Fat and sweet, with currant and fresh herbal flavors. Finishes with good length and fairly substantial tannins, but the tannins are slightly finer than those of the Monitor Ledge release. (ST)
