A deep, dense wine, the 2005 Solaia is still in its infant stage. The cool vintage produced slow-maturing wines. Nowhere is that more evident than in Solaia, a wine that retains exceptional freshness. Graphite, plum, smoke, licorice and menthol meld into the dark, brooding finish. In 2005, Solaia is a bit more refined than Tignanello, but both wines are impressive. (AG)
